Check your firewall and anti-spyware software:
- Acquisition of licenses and Media usage rights can be blocked by company firewalls and anti-spyware software. Please check first with your network administrator if you have one, or check the documentation for the firewall and/or anti-spyware software.
- If you still have problems, ensure the Windows Media DRM Add-on for Internet Explorer is enabled.

Ensure the Windows Media DRM Add-on for Internet Explorer is enabled:

Open the add-ons dialog:
- In Internet Explorer 7, select the 'Tools' menu, then 'Manage Add-ons', followed by 'Enable or Disable Add-ons'.
- In Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Service Pack 2, select the 'Tools' menu, then 'Manage Add-ons'.
- If you are running an older version of Internet Explorer, or an older version of Windows, this option is not available, therefore ensure your Internet security settings are set to the default level.
- In the 'Show' drop-down list, select 'Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer'.

In the list of add-ons select 'RMGetLicense Class'.
- In the 'Settings' section, select the 'Enable' radio button.
- Click the 'OK' button.
- If you still have problems, ensure your Internet security settings are set to the default level.

- In Internet Explorer, select the 'Tools' menu, then 'Internet Options'.
- Select the 'Security' tab.
- In the 'Select a zone to view or change security settings' area, select 'Internet'.
- Click the 'Default Level' button if it isn't greyed-out and disabled.
- Click the 'OK' button.
- If you still have problems, update your Windows Media Player DRM Security.

Update your Windows Media DRM Security:
- Update the DRM security at the Microsoft website.
- If you still have problems, update Windows Media Player.

Update your Windows Media Player:
- Install the latest version of Windows Media Player from Microsoft.
- Restart your computer.
- If you still have problems, reset your Windows Media DRM system.

Reset your Windows Media DRM system:
- WARNING This will delete all your licenses and Media Usage rights and you will not be able to play protected files until you re-acquire these from their respective websites.

Display hidden and protected operating systems files:
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Select the 'Tools' menu.
- Click 'Folder Options' button.
- Select the 'View' tab.
- Select 'Show hidden files and folders'.
- Unselect 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)'.
- Click the 'OK' button.
- Follow the steps described in 'Q. Why do I get an error message that the rights (or licenses) for my files are corrupted or not valid?' section of the Microsoft DRM FAQ. (If you are using Windows Media Player 9 or earlier, follow the steps described for Windows Media Player 10.)
